You have probably heard of mindfulness and its connection to reducing stress, but are unclear with what it is in practice. Mindfulness, as Jon Kabat-Zinn defines it is “paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”
It can be applied in formal practices as well as in daily life. It is a way to develop a more in-tune relationship with yourself and your life. Shan Studios seeks to help you implement this practice into your life in a variety of avenues.
Every class begins with a short mindfulness exercise to settle the attention for yoga practice, and ends with a purposeful savasana practice. Some classes, like Mindful Flow and Sun Salutations with Yogic Sleep, have a stronger emphasis on mindfulness during class as well.
Shan Studios offers monthly workshops, corporate mindfulness, and private mindfulness classes. If you are interested in having one of our mindfulness teachers facilitate a private or corporate mindfulness program, please email us at info@shanstudios.com
